Penny Marshall passed away on December 16, at age 75 at her place in California. She was a fixture of entertainment — first in front of the camera, and then behind it — for more than 40 years. Marshall was a true first, forever approachable, self-deprecating, and possessing a signature, often-imitated, nasally, Bronx-accented voice.

She already belonged to the ages thanks to a long race on ABC's Laverne & Shirley, which aired from to To call that show popular is an understatement — the Happy Days spinoff about two single, working women who were finest friends and roommates was a pop culture phenomenon. The show spent many of its years among the most-watched programs on TV, thanks to the charm and likability of Marshall (as Laverne) and her chemistry with Cindy Williams (Shirley). Marshall never starred in another sitcom, because she chose to make film history instead, directing several classics of the '80s and '90s, including Big, Awakenings, and A League of Their Own.

Here's a look endorse on her unusual rise and

Michael has never understood how Penny Marshall could NOT be homosexual, but her recent memoirmade her out to be so young man crazy that I just sort of figured she was one of those jock type of girls. But now the sometimes-reliable National Enquirer has this to sayabout Miss Myrna Turner:
In a gay bombshell, a provider says former &#;Laverne  Shirley&#; celebrity Penny Marshall plans to arrive out of the closet and declare she&#;s a lesbian! What&#;s more, the beloved year-old actress-turned-director will be supported in her announcement by her longtime girlfriend &#; actress Carrie Fisher, 57, of &#;Star Wars&#; fame, the source adds.
Penny apparently made the decision to reveal her sexuality when she got the news that she&#;d beaten cancer after a courageous life-or-death battle that lasted four long years.
&#;Penny says that with her medical problems finally behind her, she&#;s going to live being to the fullest, and she doesn&#;t give a rat&#;s a** if people have a issue with it,&#; a family insider told The ENQUIRER. As a result, twice-divorced Marshall &#; who has a daug

The Enquirer has a new story that I&#;m hoping is true. They claim that Penny Marshall, 70, and Carrie Fisher, 57, became a intimate couple at some indicate after being friends for decades. They also claim that Penny and Carrie plan to come out soon. They accompany this story with a photo of Penny and Carrie together at a basketball game. So are they just friends or are they really together? I&#;m not sure that I&#;m buying this story although I&#;d love it to be true, and I still think the decision is out. Here&#;s more:
